There's a recent trend of de-influencing where people share why they won't be buying trendy items that have recently gone viral online. I am not an influencer nor do I believe I am influencial to the slightest bit, but I do have thoughts on some products that have been non-stop forced into my consciousness against my will especially on Tiktok.
I was a very irresponsible shopper in the past. In fact, I have just recovered myself from debt and there is no way that I'll ever put myself through that again. I have learned to be very responsible with what I buy. Though I also have to say I'm not an angel, I still allow myself occasional splurges but I have really come a long way from being the most impulsive buyer on the face of the earth (IMO).
Disclaimer: I am not here to throw shade to the brand or to anyone who loves them. This is just my personal opinion. You buy what you want, I'll think what I want. The world is our oyster.
For this quarter, here are some viral trends I won't be hopping on anytime soon or ever...
Hot pink blush

I am not very good with blush application so I never stray away from the nude and peach shades. Given that, this hot pink blush trend is just way out of my comfort zone. It's not even in my orbit.
I have to admit, it does look very pretty but I am just too scared that it won't work the same way for me or I won't know any eye looks that will go with it. I know I could learn, but I don't have the energy and willpower to do that too. Besides that, I already have two blushes that I love. I'm currently giving myself a two item max per makeup category so there's no room for this either.

This is something that I honestly got so attracted to when it first went viral. I even got close to purchasing. It's a good thing it is not accessible here in the Philippines because as I gave it time, I just found that there were too many influencers pushing it that I just simply got sick of hearing about it. It's like a good song that loses its charm when played way too many times. I also found that there's not much product in this tubes and it is very expensive. Ergo, it's a hard pass on this one.

I think this is probably one of the prettiest products I have seen recently. I also came very close to purchasing this. It had a few add to cart - remove from cart episodes before I completely decided no. This is a very pretty lip oil that also functions as a gloss. I have extremely dry lips so I thought I would benefit from this.
However, the reality of its price got to me. I think this is around Php 3,000. I just couldn't bring myself to splurge that much for a product that I only like because it's pretty. I ended up purchasing a regular lip tint from Bench Beauty and a gloss from Vice Cosmetics and I have no regrets.

I wholeheartedly think that these cups are not aesthetically pleasing nor are they practical. Of course, they are functional (I think)...they're cups, what else is more to expect from them?
I personally would not feel comfortable bringing this outside the house if I had one. This would not fit in any of my bags and I am not willing to carry this around because I am very forgetful. I might just place there somewhere and just forget it exists. It's just big, oddly shaped and really impractical.

I have given up heat styling on my hair years ago in the effort to rehabilitate it from damage from years of styling abuse. That is my main reason why I'm not falling for these Dyson stylers or any other dupes. Let me also take a moment to mention the price. It's priced at Php 20,000 - Php 30,000!!! I don't earn enough to buy this and even if I do, I don't think I could ever justify paying that price for a hairstyler. There's so many things that amount of money can do.
In terms of the product itself, it is also really to big for my liking. I don't like anything bigger than the regular sized hair dryers or flat irons.
But really though, if it's priced like that, I would expect for hair like Angelina Jolie's with ZERO work.

What makes it too difficult to take a sponge under running water and take a bit of time to lather some soap and squeeze it out after. Why is there a need for a washer for it. I don't get it.

A big chunk of my life is spent hearing people shame my body and talk about how flabby my stomach is. It's just the way it is. So cut myself some slack whenever I get tired of hearing another fat shaming comment.
When I saw the Skims shapewear, I really wanted to try them myself. Maybe that will somehow minimise the body shaming comments. What stopped me was the possibility of high customs fees and the fact that these shapewear look like toddler onesies prior to wearing them. The ladies do actually looked very snatched and the shapewear looks very flattering on tons of different people.
Personally, I gave up my desire to try it when I just could not convince myself that I will be comfortable getting squeezed by that teeny tiny thing.

This is might be just a case of user error or my hair just needs damage before it can hold a curl, but I tried the yoga pants, socks, hair rollers, etc to no avail. My hair just does not hold the curl longer than 5 mins. Also, the yoga pants and socks hack is not too comfortable to sleep on. It was a good thing that I tried the free method before I saw these quite expensive overnight hair rollers.

My boyfriend and I tried customising our own cheesy couple phone cases way back and we were really impressed by the quality. The downside at first was the high price point and the time it took to arrive. We just went for it with the hopes that it will be high quality. Without a doubt, they look really sturdy at first and they're really pretty cases. They felt expensive. However, after just a few months of use, they started to fall apart and in my case, I stay at home most time but it still got damaged. I now use a knockoff for this - not something to be proud of, but I won't be spending Php 3,000 for a phone case again.

I love skincare and I always make it a priority to take care of my skin. Ther's not much to say here except that I won't be using any LED light therapy mask no matter how much people online say it works wonders. The look of it just gives me the creeps.
I will choose the Iron Man mask any day even if that does not have any benefits other than pure entertainment.

I have many, many regrets in life but using a duffel bag to travel is one of the top five. I am quite used to less than stellar travel because I am not rich enough to ever experience business or first class, but that one time I brought a duffel bag as my carry-on just made it hell for me. It was a long haul flight non-direct flight so I was carrying this around from one terminal to another and it was just a pain. My arms took days to recover from it.
This bag is cute, but I won't ever buy something like this again. If I'd ever want a gym bag (lol who am I kidding), I might just go for mainstream athletic brands like Nike or Adidas.
I hope I didn't step on any toes for this but if one of these things are your faves or you can just simply afford them, then I'm truly happy for you. But I'm just an average income working girl who is saving for bigger things that I cannot afford to throw money around or go in debt.
